About the position

The Program Coordinator for the Law Enforcement Assisted Diversion (LEAD) initiative is responsible for managing the implementation of the program in Chelan and Douglas counties. This role involves coordinating with various stakeholders, including law enforcement, courts, and community partners, to connect individuals with severe behavioral health disorders to appropriate resources, thereby diverting them from the criminal justice system. The coordinator will also facilitate training, ensure safety in service delivery, and engage in community education about the LEAD program.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the implementation of the LEAD initiative in Chelan and Douglas counties.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to design and implement LEAD within local jurisdictions.
  • Facilitate regular operational workgroup meetings to discuss program participants' situations and progress.
  • Design and oversee training activities for LEAD staff on core principles and best practices.
  • Monitor staff efforts in linking and coordinating with interdisciplinary team members.
  • Ensure LEAD services meet the safety needs of individuals served.
  • Participate in verbal de-escalation and intervention in emergent situations.
  • Work with community members to educate them on the benefits of LEAD.
  • Maintain awareness of grant opportunities and submit proposals to secure funding for LEAD.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Behavioral Sciences required.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in the provision of supervision and/or management of Crisis Services.
  • Experience facilitating meetings.
  • Knowledge of local homeless services and housing systems is preferred.
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to LEAD's core principles.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience or familiarity with community and human services dynamics and public safety/order issues in local communities.
  • Demonstrated interest in criminal justice, homelessness, and/or drug policy reform.
