About the position

The Program Coordinator for Leadership and Civic Engagement at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities is a full-time administrative role focused on coordinating various programs and activities within the Department of Community Development. This position supports leadership and civic engagement cohorts, including the Growing Local Leadership program and alumni events, while collaborating with educators and community partners. The coordinator will manage logistics, communication, and participant engagement to ensure the success of the programs.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as liaison between Program Leader, Educator(s), and community partners.
  • Responsible for logistical arrangements for events and activities, including facility use and lease agreements.
  • Schedule, coordinate, and guide meetings for advisory committees and staff.
  • Respond to program inquiries from internal and external stakeholders.
  • Monitor and update website pages related to key programs and events.
  • Assist Program Leaders and Extension Educators with correspondence and administrative tasks.
  • Compile information for newsletters and local advertising in coordination with communications staff.
  • Order, maintain, distribute, and track supplies for educational programs and events.
  • Support online engagement and alumni programming, including arranging trainings and networking events.
  • Maintain regular communication with alumni and program participants to support their program requirements.
  • Consolidate, monitor, and report budget and spending for programming events.
  • Maintain records and assist with preparation of reports on program activities and outcomes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in project management or related field, or a combination of relevant education and work experience totaling 4 years.
  • Project coordination experience.
  • Experience handling meeting/event logistics.
  • Significant experience with Microsoft Windows (Word, Publisher, PowerPoint, Excel) and Google Suite.
  • Experience formatting, drafting, or writing routine to complex correspondence and materials.
  • Experience working with diverse populations and communities.
  • Experience working with clientele in face-to-face, phone, email, and/or text interactions.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining high quality.
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience managing and supporting program participants and alumni.
  • Experience with database use in managing work and participant data.
  • Skills in organizing, prioritization, and filing systems.
  • Knowledge of financial policies and procedures.
  • Experience working with online learning platforms.
