About the position

The Program Coordinator for the Leadership and Social Change Learning Community at the University of Vermont plays a pivotal role in enhancing the educational experience of students through co-curricular programming. This position is part of a collaborative effort between Residential Life and Academic Affairs and Student Success, aimed at creating a vibrant learning environment where students can engage deeply with their peers and faculty. The Program Coordinator will be responsible for developing and implementing a diverse range of programs that align with the community's goals, focusing on leadership development and social change. In this role, the coordinator will utilize a curricular approach to plan and facilitate events that not only support student leadership but also foster a sense of community among participants. This includes creating service-learning opportunities and community service projects that encourage students to engage with the broader community. The coordinator will act as a liaison between the Learning Community and various university departments and community organizations, ensuring that students have access to a wide array of resources and support. Additionally, the Program Coordinator will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Leadership and Social Change Learning Community, collaborating closely with the Program Director and other staff members in the Residential Education Unit. This includes supervising work-study students and assisting with marketing efforts to promote community events. The position requires a proactive approach to working both independently and as part of a dynamic team, with a strong emphasis on communication and collaboration with individuals from diverse backgrounds. The coordinator will also contribute to larger departmental initiatives, such as All-Residential Learning and Academic Engagement programming, and support various community-specific events.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or 1-3 years of related experience.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, social justice, and fostering a collaborative multicultural environment.
