About the position

The Mobility Safety Program Coordinator at The George Washington University is responsible for coordinating, delivering, and evaluating a mobility safety program aimed at enhancing student safety related to transportation on campus. This role involves collaboration with various stakeholders to promote safe transportation practices and support student well-being through educational initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Create, implement, and evaluate programming on scooter, bike, car, and pedestrian safety on campus
  • Partner with other universities in the DC area to develop and implement a comprehensive approach to preventing traffic-related injuries and death
  • Increase access to alternative transportation and communication around mobility safety measures
  • Create educational opportunities for incoming students on safely navigating DC
  • Perform a needs assessment on student attitudes towards impaired mobility, substance use, and access to transportation
  • Support GW's substance-use programming, policies, and resources
  • Collaborate with students and student organizations to deliver substance-use education and programming
  • Support the implementation and evaluation of campus-wide health and wellbeing surveys
  • Implement mobility safety education for residential students
  • Attend departmental and division meetings and professional development opportunities
  • Assist with the development and implementation of the department's services, programs and events

Requirements

  • Degree in public health, public administration, public policy, health education, or a related field
  • Interest and/or experience in safe transportation, Vision Zero, and reducing impaired mobility
  • Experience creating, implementing, and evaluating systems-level programs
  • Knowledge of substance-use evidence-based practices and harm reduction strategies
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Proficiency with personal computers, newsletters, software, program marketing, and use of database software
