About the position

The Program Coordinator at Children's Home Association of Illinois (CHAIL) is responsible for supervising a team of Family Support Specialists to ensure quality service delivery to children and families. This role involves monitoring program compliance with agency standards and funder expectations, providing reflective supervision, and facilitating professional development for staff. The coordinator will also manage program resources and engage with community entities to support families effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise a team of 4 Family Support Specialists and 1 Outreach Specialist.
  • Facilitate weekly supervision sessions lasting 1.5-2 hours.
  • Ensure accurate completion and submission of home visiting documentation according to program policies.
  • Monitor Family Support Specialists' caseloads and home visit completion rates.
  • Observe in-home visits of Family Support Specialists at least semiannually and provide constructive feedback.
  • Provide reflective supervision to support Family Support Specialists in their work with challenging families.
  • Develop and implement training plans to meet Healthy America training requirements.
  • Conduct annual evaluations of staff performance.
  • Ensure compliance with grant requirements and program outcomes.
  • Manage individual grant budgets and attend community meetings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Behavioral Sciences (Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, mental health, or education) required.
  • 3-5 years' experience in Human or Social Services; 1 year working directly with families with children in-home or in group settings.
  • Experience in case management or service coordination.
  • Solid understanding of supervising and motivating staff in stressful environments.
  • Experience in early childhood prevention services; home visitation experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of parent-child attachment, maternal-infant health, and dynamics of child abuse and neglect preferred.
  • Experience providing family services that are family-centered, strength-based, and culturally sensitive.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with community engagement and collaboration with early childhood and child abuse prevention groups.
  • Ability to relate to persons of diverse backgrounds.
