The Program Coordinator - Research Compliance has the primary function of acting on behalf of the University to ensure institutional compliance with non-financial regulatory mandates related to the research and sponsored project activities of the University. This role is crucial in maintaining the integrity of research practices and ensuring that all activities align with applicable policies and regulations throughout the life of the project. The individual will serve as a liaison with campus researchers, providing essential support to SIUC administration, faculty, staff, and students in research compliance-related areas. As a member of the Office of Research Compliance team, the Program Coordinator primarily supports the Institutional Review Board (IRB), which is responsible for reviewing, approving, and overseeing human subjects research. This position involves a variety of responsibilities, including assisting the Research Compliance Director in ensuring compliance with regulatory mandates, performing initial reviews of applications submitted to the IRB, and preparing various compliance-related documents. The coordinator will also provide expert-level customer service to research faculty, staff, and students, working collaboratively to facilitate necessary corrective measures to prevent non-compliance. In addition to these duties, the Program Coordinator will maintain accurate databases of approved activities and compliance documents, conduct grant-protocol congruence reviews, and report findings to the Director of Research Compliance. The role also includes participating in the development and dissemination of educational materials and trainings to inform the university community about regulatory requirements and university policies related to research activities. The coordinator will engage with various campus units to identify opportunities for increased efficiency and enhanced service delivery to investigators, promoting a culture of compliance and ethical conduct in research.
