The Community College Initiative Program Coordinator (PC) is responsible for the development and management of academic and socio/cultural immersion activities for a group of 14 to 18 international exchange students. This position is a full-time restricted position with the possibility of renewal, contingent on availability of funding. The Program Coordinator will oversee and manage the programming and administrative responsibilities for the CCI cohort at the Alexandria campus. The role requires the management and implementation of a year-long academic and cultural program for CCI international exchange participants, which includes developing and implementing a pre-academic orientation program for students, managing the allocated budget for the cohort, and addressing interpersonal conflicts that may arise among students. Additionally, the coordinator will occasionally provide transportation and act as an emergency contact for students, ensuring their safety and well-being during their time in the program. The position also involves organizing regular U.S. CSI excursions to facilitate learning about host communities, enhancing the students' cultural immersion experience. This role is critical in fostering a supportive environment for international students, requiring the coordinator to work independently with minimal supervision while managing multiple priorities from various stakeholders under tight deadlines. The position is not only about administrative tasks but also about creating enriching experiences for students, which may involve travel for program events and being available as a 24/7 emergency contact. The coordinator may also be required to assist the agency or state government in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor, highlighting the importance of flexibility and readiness in this role. Overall, the Program Coordinator plays a vital role in ensuring the success of the CCI program and the well-being of its participants.
