About the position

The Program Coordinator (RN) for Inpatient Wound Care Services at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in delivering high-quality, individualized care to patients with wound care needs. The coordinator will be responsible for organizing and administering professional nursing care to patients within the assigned unit, ensuring that care is age-specific and aligns with the medical care provided. This role supports the mission and vision of Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center and adheres to the standards set forth by the New Jersey State Nurse Practice Act, the American Nurses Association, and other regulatory agencies. The Program Coordinator will also participate in patient education and discharge planning, contributing to the overall performance improvement initiatives within the unit. This includes evaluating the appropriateness of wound consult patients, coordinating care and patient education, and acting as a liaison between physicians and other healthcare team members. The coordinator will engage in house-wide skin and wound care programs, facilitating staff education and patient care initiatives, including Prevalence and Competency Days. The role requires flexibility in scheduling to meet the needs of patients and staff, ensuring that the highest standards of care are maintained. In addition to clinical responsibilities, the Program Coordinator will oversee the overall functioning of the clinical areas, coordinating nursing care and wound care activities in accordance with the hospital's policies and procedures. This position is integral to the success of the wound care program and requires a dedicated professional who is committed to excellence in patient care and nursing practice.

Responsibilities

  • Organize and administer individualized age-specific professional care to patients within an assigned unit.
  • Support the philosophy, objectives, mission, and vision of Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center and the Department of Nursing.
  • Practice in accordance with the N.J. State Nurse Practice Act and other regulatory standards.
  • Participate in patient teaching and discharge planning.
  • Participate in unit Performance Improvement evaluation and activities.
  • Coordinate nursing care and practice as well as wound care activities in conjunction with hospital policies and procedures.
  • Evaluate appropriateness of wound consult patients and coordinate care/patient education and follow-up.
  • Act as a liaison with physicians and other healthcare team members.
  • Participate in house-wide skin/wound care programs for staff education and patient care.
  • Develop and participate in unit Performance Improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • BSN from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Demonstrates clinical competence in Wound Care.
  • Minimum of 1 year previous Wound Care experience.
  • Wound and Ostomy certification or completion within 1 year of hire.
  • Active NJ RN license or compact RN license with NJ endorsement.
  • BLS from the American Heart Association.
