About the position

The Program Coordinator for the Scalehouse in the Solid Waste Management Department is responsible for developing, organizing, administering, and evaluating various programs and functions. This role provides guidance and technical expertise to program staff, other departments, and community participants, ensuring efficient service delivery and compliance with regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in customer service, data management, and solid waste operations, along with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, develops, organizes, and evaluates work processes to ensure efficient delivery of program services.
  • Participates in needs assessment data analysis to assist in developing grant applications for funding.
  • Interprets and explains policies, processes, and applicable laws to resolve problems and provide information to program participants.
  • Coordinates actions involving multiple organizational entities and follows up to ensure compliance with program requirements.
  • Reviews program operations for compliance, identifies strengths and weaknesses, and recommends corrective actions.
  • Instructs individuals and groups on proper methods and procedures for compliance with program regulations.
  • Writes or revises procedural and training manuals and summary reports.
  • Conducts orientation, training, and presentations for individuals and groups.
  • Recruits and trains volunteers and program staff, developing work schedules for appropriate coverage.
  • Conducts customer/participant surveys to gather information on program services and satisfaction.
  • Assists in developing the program budget and monitors expenditures.
  • Processes pre-approved expenditures and assists with preparing grant applications.
  • Resolves problems encountered during daily operations and determines appropriate solutions.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university.
  • One year of experience directly related to the assigned program, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Knowledge of specific functions, activities, and services provided by assigned programs.
  • Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations governing assigned programs.
  • Ability to plan, organize, coordinate, and supervise the work of assigned staff.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to prioritize work and work effectively with others.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with CompuWeigh software.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
  • Demonstrated experience in customer service and data management.
