About the position

The Program Coordinator for the Summer Institute in Social Research Methods (SISRM) at the University of Chicago plays a vital role in supporting interdisciplinary undergraduate programs within the Social Sciences Division. This position involves administrative support for program logistics, coordination of faculty and student interactions, and the development of communication materials. The coordinator will assist in the planning and execution of summer workshops and academic year recruitment activities, ensuring effective outreach and engagement with students and faculty.

Responsibilities

  • Completes program logistics for SISRM summer workshops and engagement activities for select minor programs, including space scheduling and catering.
  • Executes program coordination, facilitating SISRM's annual call for faculty mentors and student RAs, and supporting mentorship program initiatives.
  • Develops and maintains student communications, including website updates, digital flyers, social media posts, and email announcements.
  • Performs course management and support for select minor programs and SISRM.
  • Coordinates business processes such as processing payments, maintaining budgets, and producing information for reports and grant applications.
  • Plans and conducts quality assurance reviews and recommends changes as appropriate.
  • Interacts with faculty, researchers, and staff for committee work or information.
  • Performs other related work as needed.

Requirements

  • Minimum college or university degree in a related field.
  • Knowledge and skills developed through less than 2 years of work experience in a related job discipline.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office is essential.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in the social sciences or humanities.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, email distribution software (such as MailChimp), social media platforms, and website administration (such as WordPress).
  • Strong proofreading and writing skills; graphic design and video editing experience.
