Maintenance & Construction (M&C) is responsible for general maintenance, repair, and renovations of all University of Washington (UW) main campus facilities including building interiors, exteriors, and grounds, as well as logistics, moving, and disposal of surplus equipment and furniture. We have an outstanding opportunity for a Program Coordinator, Surplus Warehouse Operations.

Responsibilities

  • Advise UW faculty and staff, government agencies, non-profit organizations, and the general public regarding the policies and procedures for disposal and acquisition of surplus property.
  • Receive, unpack, and sort incoming property.
  • Load, unload, and distribute furniture, equipment, and materials.
  • Inspect for condition, quantity, and type against shipping documents and resolve any associated discrepancies.
  • Make inventory tags and determine disposition of property.
  • Identify hazardous materials and follow handling and disposal guidelines.
  • Conduct physical inventories as scheduled and/or directed.
  • Receive, review, and process Surplus Property request forms.
  • Determine appropriate storage locations and placement of property in warehouse.
  • Safely operate material handling equipment, including forklifts.
  • Prepare online timed auction listings and draft descriptions.
  • Conduct retail store sales of surplus property.
  • Provide direction and assignments to Moving and Surplus staff.
  • Create, improve, and maintain program procedures.
  • Provide coverage for other Surplus Program Coordinators during planned and unplanned absences.

Requirements

  • High school graduation or equivalent AND two years of experience auction coordination, warehouse operations/retail operations/materials management/inventory management OR equivalent education/experience.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain and model composure in a fast-paced, dynamic customer service driven environment.
  • Flexibility to meet changing business/customer needs.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with personal computing environment, Microsoft Office Suite, proprietary databases, web-based tools, and other proprietary software products or willingness to learn/use computers and related software.
  • Ability and willingness to learn/operate a forklift.
