About the position

The UC Irvine Cancer Research Institute (CRI) is an organized research unit dedicated to basic cancer research, comprising over 60 faculty affiliates from various departments including Biological Sciences, Engineering, Medicine, Physical Sciences, and Pharmaceutical Science. The CRI plays a crucial role in supporting faculty research, organizing cancer-related training, and functioning as the basic science arm of the UCI Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center. The CRI offices are located in Sprague Hall on the UCI main campus. You will play an instrumental role in organizing educational seminars, campus-wide symposiums, workshops, national conferences, and other activities for the Cancer Research Institute and the broader cancer community at UCI. Your responsibilities will include event coordination, which encompasses negotiating contracts, determining agendas with planning committees, facilitating registration payments, managing website design, and interacting with individuals at all levels within internal and external organizations. You will cultivate relationships with sponsors, facilitate on-site meetings, and conduct post-meeting evaluations. Your primary responsibilities will also include oversight of the Youth Science Fellowship program for high school students, coordination of the annual campus-wide symposium, and providing administrative support for day-to-day training grant activities and annual progress reporting to sponsors.
