About the position

The Program Coordinator at the YMCA of the Virginia Peninsulas is responsible for overseeing youth and teen programs, ensuring their smooth daily operations, and promoting the organization's mission and values. This role involves leading program development, maintaining safety standards, and fostering positive relationships with participants and staff.

Responsibilities

• Provide oversight to youth and teen programs.
• Assist with the daily operations of camps, including staffing and curriculum execution.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with participants, members, and staff.
• Effectively communicate updates and policies to youth/teen parents and guardians.
• Ensure the safety and wellbeing of youth/teen in the program/facility.
• Report all accidents and injuries to the Youth and Teen Experience Executive.
• Maintain cleanliness and safety of all equipment and spaces for participants.
• Participate in the Annual Giving Campaign as assigned.

Requirements

• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Bachelor's Degree highly desirable.
• Experience with youth/teen programs preferred.
• Certification in CPR/First Aid/AED/O2 required within 60 days of hire.
• Ability to interact with people from diverse backgrounds.
• Experience in program development is highly preferred.
• Working knowledge of computers and various software applications.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Completion of required trainings including New Employee Orientation, Bloodborne Pathogens, Child Abuse Prevention, and Sexual Harassment.

• Experience in the development of programs is highly preferred.
