About the position

Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care (UBHC) is seeking a Program Coordinator for the Newark Screening program. This position is integral to the clinical and administrative leadership team, working closely with the Clinician Supervisor and Director of Acute Emergency Services. The Program Coordinator will primarily oversee the supervision of multi-disciplinary staff, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and standards. The role requires a strong commitment to maintaining confidentiality and recognizing the limits of authority and responsibility within the organization. The Program Coordinator will supervise staff on a daily basis, providing both administrative and clinical direction. This includes monitoring staff performance, conducting bi-annual performance reviews, and ensuring compliance with mandatory continuing education requirements. The Program Coordinator will also address performance issues through progressive discipline in collaboration with the Program Manager. Additionally, the role involves scheduling and coordinating daily staff activities, as well as participating in the hiring process for new staff members. This full-time position operates on a day shift schedule, with a standard work week of 37.5 hours. The Program Coordinator will be expected to contribute to the overall mission of UBHC, which is to provide high-quality behavioral health services to a diverse population across New Jersey. The successful candidate will play a key role in fostering a supportive and effective work environment for staff and clients alike.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises staff in the Newark Screening program.
  • Provides administrative and clinical direction to staff on a daily basis.
  • Maintains confidentiality of information and recognizes limits of authority and responsibility.
  • Monitors staff performance and conducts bi-annual performance reviews.
  • Addresses staff performance issues via progressive discipline in collaboration with the Program Manager.
  • Schedules and coordinates daily staff activities with the Program Manager and other Program Coordinators.
  • Participates in the staff interview and hiring process.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in a related mental health field.
  • Four (4) years of postgraduate experience in related community mental health and/or case management work.
  • Active New Jersey certification/licensure as required by the State Board of Social Work for applicants with a degree in Social Work.
  • Licensed in New Jersey to provide mental health services as an independent practitioner (e.g., LCSW, LPC, LMFT, psychology license).
  • Eligibility for certification as a Psychiatric Screener in the state of New Jersey is required.
  • Valid driver's license.

Nice-to-haves

  • One (1) year of supervisory experience preferred.
