About the position

The Program Coordinator at Heart Math Tutoring Inc. plays a crucial role in ensuring high-quality tutoring sessions and a positive experience for volunteers and school staff. This position involves being present at assigned school sites during tutoring sessions, assessing students, monitoring instruction, and providing ongoing training and real-time coaching to tutors. The coordinator acts as a liaison between Heart Tutoring and the school, facilitating communication with teachers and hosting volunteers while building relationships with students, families, tutors, and school staff.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the growth of 50 - 60 students in math skills and enthusiasm for academics.
  • Manage and support 50 - 80 weekly volunteers.
  • Liaise with teachers, school staff, and families.
  • Become an expert on Heart curriculum and assessments.
  • Deliver initial training and ongoing support to tutors.
  • Communicate with school staff regarding curriculum, students, and schedule issues.
  • Communicate with families regarding student and program updates.
  • Design and maintain the schedule of students and volunteers using Salesforce.
  • Coordinate and complete student assessments.
  • Manage tutoring materials.
  • Attend weekly team meetings and quarterly professional development trainings.
  • Report operational information to the Program Manager.
  • Partner with the Heart team to provide and receive feedback for program improvement.
  • Coordinate space and time logistics with school staff.
  • Act as an ambassador of Heart to personal networks and the community.

Requirements

  • Strong belief that all students can learn and perform at or above grade level.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to quickly build expertise in teaching, learning, and assessing.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience working with low-income populations.
  • Desire to work with elementary-aged students.
  • Computer skills and willingness to learn programs including MS 365 Suite, Salesforce, and file sharing systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with tutoring or educational programs.
  • Familiarity with video-conferencing platforms like Zoom and Google Meets.
