About the position

The Humphry Fellowship Program Coordinator, working within the department of Leadership, Policy, and Organizations at the Peabody College of Education and Human Development, Vanderbilt University, is a key individual contributor responsible for Humphrey Fellowship program support and communication. This position requires excellent organizational and relational skills with strengths in event planning, social media, and navigating life in Nashville. Reporting directly to the Program Director, the Program Coordinator will partner with the Humphrey team to ensure the Fellows' professional growth, mutual exchange opportunities, and safe and secure living conditions. The individual should expect to work in the office and occasionally on nights or weekends. This position will require some local and domestic travel. Responsibilities

  • Support the programming of the professional and leadership development workshops and seminars
  • Communicate with partnering individuals, institutions, and organizations regarding partnership activities and events
  • Develop, plan, execute, and coordinate Humphrey events including social, cultural, and service events, speakers, orientation and retreats related to program initiatives
  • Develop and create marketing information and material for events and programs
  • Manage and create content for Humphrey social media accounts and website
  • Create and compile agendas, minutes, and action reports for special functions and program activities
  • Coordinate efforts and resources with departments and offices that engage in global activities at Vanderbilt
  • Provide comprehensive support to the program participants while in the United States such as navigating the health care system and the facilitation of housing

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 5 years of relevant experience in multicultural setting required
  • Master's degree in international affairs, higher education, or similar preferred
  • Strong writing and communication capabilities required
  • Experience with event planning and coordinating required
  • Knowledge of the Microsoft Office software including MS Excel, MS Word required
  • Ability to set priorities, and to work independently and as part of a team required
  • Strong cultural competence and experience serving and working with people from different cultural and country backgrounds strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of best practices in international education and current issues/trends in international education strongly preferred
  • Experience with social media management and content creation strongly preferred
  • Ability to work effectively with various stakeholders and partners, including senior administrators, faculty members, non-profit organizations, and grant agencies preferred
  • Knowledge of a second language and significant experience abroad preferred
  • Familiarity with university and community resources preferred
