About the position

The Program Cost Scheduling Control Analyst/Principal Program Cost Scheduling Control Analyst at Northrop Grumman is responsible for supporting strategic and space-related business programs. This role involves close collaboration with program management, operational leaders, and both internal and external customers to prepare budgets, schedules, and conduct financial analyses. The analyst will ensure adequate funding availability, maintain accurate records of expenditures, and assist in incorporating contractual changes into control systems to maintain realistic cost and schedule baselines.

Responsibilities

  • Setting up cost control systems and monitoring costs and schedules on contracts requiring a validated cost schedule control system.
  • Preparing budgets for contract work and performing financial analyses such as funding profiles, sales outlook, and variance analysis.
  • Preparing and analyzing financial reports and communicating recommendations to management in a clear, organized summary.
  • Working with the program team to integrate project cost with scheduled activity.
  • Providing monthly/quarterly reporting and analysis to support business processes.
  • Assisting in planning and forecasting program financial performance and preparing future strategic plans.
  • Serving as a resource to management in understanding results by reporting and investigating variances.
  • Analyzing business processes and making recommendations to improve process efficiency and support continuous improvement.
  • Identifying potential profit impacts to programs and making recommendations for mitigation and improving profit margin.
  • Preparing and tracking key performance metrics to direct management.

Requirements

  • Must have 6 or more years of finance experience for Program Cost Schedule Control Analyst or 9 or more years for Principal Program Cost Schedule Control Analyst.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field with 2 years of experience or a Master's degree in a related field with 0 years of experience for Program Cost Schedule Control Analyst; Bachelor's with 5 years or Master's with 3 years for Principal.
  • Knowledge of applications in a computerized environment, including spreadsheet applications and databases (e.g., MS Excel, MS Access, MS Power Point).
  • Ability to extract, compile, document, and analyze data.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and build relationships with others.
  • Possess excellent analytical, problem-solving, and reporting skills.
  • Independent self-starter and proactive contributor.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple assignments to meet deadlines.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior team participation experience (professional/community/extracurricular).
  • Experience in developing and delivering presentations and leading small groups.
  • Aerospace and/or DoD intern/working experience.
  • Knowledge of Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS).
  • Experience executing programs with contractual EVMS requirements.
  • Prior experience with Deltek financial applications (CostPoint, Cobra, OpenPlan, PM Compass).
