About the position

As the Program Director II - Wellness & Aquatics at YMCA of Southern Maine, you will play a pivotal role in leading and managing wellness and aquatics programs. Your focus will be on aligning these initiatives with the organization's mission while ensuring they meet community needs and safety standards. This position is essential for promoting health, fitness, and water safety within the community.

Responsibilities

• Develop and oversee wellness programs that support diverse fitness needs and foster a culture of healthy living.
• Plan and implement engaging wellness activities that meet YMCA standards and cater to all age groups and fitness levels.
• Promote holistic health and wellness, including nutrition and fitness, to enhance community well-being.
• Ensure the highest standards of safety and quality in all aquatics programs.
• Oversee lifeguard and swim instructor training, and maintain certification standards.
• Create and manage a dynamic aquatics schedule that includes swim lessons, fitness classes, and community swim events.
• Supervise and support aquatics staff, ensuring they deliver exceptional service and adhere to safety protocols.

Requirements

• 3-5 years in a leadership role within wellness or aquatics, with proven success in program management.
• Strong decision-making, problem-solving, and communication abilities.
• Proficiency in managing budgets and data tracking.
• Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience in wellness, fitness, or aquatics.
• A dedication to promoting health and safety, with a commitment to core values and mission.
• Previous experience in aquatics as a swimmer or a professional.
