About the position

The Program Director for Media, Communications & Marketing at Florida State University (FSU) plays a pivotal role in enhancing the visibility and reputation of the College of Law. This position is integral to the senior management team, contributing to strategic planning, goal setting, and policy implementation. The Director is responsible for overseeing all communications activities related to the law school, ensuring that they align with the university's broader objectives. The incumbent will develop and implement integrated marketing strategies that elevate the College of Law's brand and profile both in the community and online. This includes formulating and coordinating strategic marketing activities that promote the College of Law's academic excellence and distinctiveness. In this role, the Director will create and deliver an annual communications plan to the Dean and senior leaders, guiding the assessment and implementation of brand strategies that support recruitment, faculty hiring, and fundraising initiatives. Collaboration across departments is essential, as the Director will work closely with various teams to develop materials that promote faculty research, student success, and career opportunities. Engaging with alumni and creating recruitment materials will also be key responsibilities. The Director will play a vital role in planning and executing effective marketing strategies, including multi-channel campaigns and data analysis to target audiences. They will manage media relations, cultivating relationships with media professionals and influencers to maximize coverage of the College of Law's programs and achievements. Additionally, the Director will oversee budgeting for communications, ensuring adherence to financial guidelines and tracking return on investment metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of communication initiatives. This position requires a strategic thinker with a strong background in media, communications, and marketing, who can effectively enhance the College of Law's visibility and reputation.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to strategic planning and goal setting for the College of Law.

  • Oversee news releases and maintain media databases for the College of Law.
  • Provide media training and coaching to faculty members.
  • Monitor communication spending and ensure adherence to budgetary restrictions.
  • Track ROI metrics to evaluate expenditures related to communication initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in media, communications, marketing, or a related field.
  • Six years of experience in media, communications, and/or marketing services, or a high school diploma with ten years of equivalent experience.
  • Strong financial acumen and attention to detail in budgeting and resource management.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement integrated marketing strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration and media relations.
