About the position

The Program Distribution and Acquisitions Manager is a pivotal role within PBS North Carolina, responsible for the creation and management of program assets across various distribution channels. This includes the acquisition of content for The North Carolina Channel and related video-on-demand services. The manager will oversee the intake and distribution of program deliverables to appropriate staff across multiple departments and distribution points, ensuring that all content is effectively managed and delivered. In collaboration with the acquisitions team, the manager will work to acquire independently produced content tailored for North Carolina audiences. This role also involves close cooperation with the Programming Operations team to maintain the integrity of broadcast services, which includes the management and delivery of broadcast assets as well as the creation and maintenance of broadcast logs. The manager will be responsible for generating various reports on an annual, monthly, and weekly basis to track progress and performance within the organization and department. This position may offer a hybrid work arrangement, adhering to the System Office policy, and requires employees to reside within a two-hour commuting distance of their assigned duty station in North Carolina. Responsibilities

  • Create and manage program assets for PBS North Carolina and its distribution channels.
  • Acquire content for The North Carolina Channel and related video-on-demand services.
  • Oversee the intake and distribution of program deliverables to appropriate staff.
  • Collaborate with the acquisitions team to acquire independently produced content.
  • Work with the Programming Operations team to ensure integrity of broadcast services.
  • Manage and deliver broadcast assets and maintain broadcast logs.
  • Generate annual, monthly, and weekly reports for the organization and department.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalency and four years of progressive experience in a broadcast television, radio, and emerging media environment, including one year of supervisory experience.
  • Experience in a high-volume broadcast media environment.
  • Familiarity with programming grids and programming operations.
  • Experience with programming and broadcast log creation and management software.
  • Knowledge of media technical specifications and video/television distribution systems.
  • Some video editing experience with Adobe Creative Suite or other editing software.
  • Experience with metadata management and video production collaboration tools.

Nice-to-haves

  • Understanding of PBS and PBS North Carolina Standards and Practices.
  • Knowledge of FCC regulations regarding program content.
  • Understanding of Journalistic Ethics.
  • Familiarity with media asset management systems such as Dalet.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
