About the position

The Program Engineer position at Leidos involves managing and coordinating engineering projects within the power industry. The role requires a strong background in civil or electrical engineering, with responsibilities including project management, scheduling, and collaboration with design teams. The engineer will oversee project workflows, ensure quality control, and maintain compliance with project scope and budget while engaging with clients and attending meetings.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate project workloads and schedule resources.
  • Attend project meetings and site walkdowns.
  • Collaborate with electrical design teams for transmission projects.
  • Build project schedules and manage staff resource-loaded schedules.
  • Contribute to bids and proposal development.
  • Take a leadership role in a design team.
  • Ensure quality control and timely submission of design packages.
  • Conduct site visits to client right-of-way (ROW) and facilities.
  • Engage in front-facing client operations such as preliminary engineering consultation and project kick-off meetings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering - Required.
  • 5+ years of experience with a utility or engineering consulting company servicing the power industry.
  • PE Licensure - Preferred.
  • Experience with project management software such as Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, or Workfront - Desired.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite of programs - Required.
  • Familiarity with transmission engineering design practices and quality control - Required.
  • Familiarity with PLS-CADD software - Required.
  • Familiarity with MFAD software - Preferred.
  • Familiarity with NESC and MA CMR 220 - Required.
  • Strong analytical and technical writing skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients and staff.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25%.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in front-facing client operations such as preliminary engineering consultation and project setup.
  • Familiarity with additional engineering software.
