About the position

The Legislative Budget Office (LBO) is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Program Evaluator to join our team. This position is a limited-term appointment for two years and is full-time. The Program Evaluator will play a crucial role in applying program evaluation methods to assist the Minnesota Legislature in assessing tax expenditure policies, which include tax incentives, tax credits, and tax exemptions. This position is designed for individuals who are passionate about public policy and want to contribute to the legislative process through rigorous analysis and evaluation of fiscal policies. As a Program Evaluator, you will be responsible for conducting comprehensive evaluations of various tax-related programs and policies. This will involve collecting and analyzing data, preparing reports, and presenting findings to stakeholders. You will work closely with legislative staff, policymakers, and other stakeholders to ensure that evaluations are thorough and provide actionable insights. The role requires a strong analytical mindset, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations of tax expenditure policies including tax incentives, tax credits, and tax exemptions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in public policy, economics, finance, or a related field.
  • Experience in program evaluation, data analysis, or budget analysis.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
