About the position

The Material Cost Analyst position is part of the Advanced Development Program (ADP) Finance team, located in Palmdale, CA, Fort Worth, TX, or Marietta, GA. This role is crucial in supporting various program finance functions, including establishing and managing program cost baselines, conducting Earned Value analysis, and reconciling actual cost accounts. The analyst will also perform supplier reconciliations and variance analysis using enterprise toolsets such as Cobra and SAP. This position requires a strong background in data mining and data analysis, as well as the ability to present findings to management effectively. Additionally, the selected candidate will have the opportunity to support and mentor early career team members, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented environment. The role demands a proactive approach to financial management, ensuring that all financial data is accurate and up-to-date. The Material Cost Analyst will be responsible for determining appropriate Earned Value techniques and will play a key role in the financial health of the programs they support. Responsibilities

  • Establish and manage program cost baselines.
  • Conduct Earned Value analysis and determine appropriate Earned Value techniques.
  • Reconcile actual cost accounts and perform supplier reconciliations.
  • Conduct variance analysis using enterprise toolsets such as Cobra and SAP.
  • Perform data mining and data analysis to support financial reporting.
  • Present findings and reports to management effectively.
  • Support and mentor early career team members.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or above from an accredited college, or equivalent experience/combined education.
  • Experience with Earned Value Management System (EVMS) concepts and their application.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite Products, especially Excel.
  • Strong financial analysis skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business.
  • Familiarity with Systems, Applications, Products Software (SAP).
  • Familiarity with Hyperion/Accounting Data Analysis and Reporting (ADAR).
  • Experience in developing program budgets and Estimates at Completion.
  • Ability to perform data analysis through self-developed queries.
  • Familiarity with cost systems similar to Deltek Cobra.
  • High degree of interpersonal skills for interfacing with senior leadership and program management leads.
  • Experience in presenting raw data in written/oral form for management reports.
  • Experience with formal CPR/IPMR Reporting.
  • Ability to lead and mentor less senior analysts.
