About the position

The Program Floater position at Community Action, Inc. of Central Texas is a full-time role focused on supporting the Early Childhood Education program. The primary responsibility is to assist classroom teachers in providing quality educational opportunities tailored to the individual needs of children. The role emphasizes effective communication, teamwork, and flexibility, ensuring a positive learning environment for children and collaboration with families.

Responsibilities

  • Communicates and develops a positive relationship with families.
  • Assists in the set-up of the classroom and instructional learning.
  • Participates in parent meetings and active supervision of children.
  • Prepares materials for instruction and cleans up after lessons.
  • Follows safety guidelines when lifting equipment and caring for children.
  • Reports to the Person in Charge in the absence of the Site Supervisor.
  • Reports suspected child abuse to the Child Abuse Hotline and agency policy.
  • Arrives on time and works designated hours as specified by the supervisor.
  • Provides appropriate care for children, including diapering and maintaining a sanitized classroom.
  • Assists with recruitment of parents and staff.
  • Ensures positive and respectful adult-child interactions according to Head Start Program policies.
  • Submits time sheets and mileage accurately and on time to the supervisor.
  • Attends all staff and other assigned meetings.
  • Maintains confidentiality and professionalism in all dealings.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Basic computer skills, including the ability to type basic documents.
  • At least 18 years old.
  • Initial Health Exam required for all Head Start staff at the agency's expense.
  • Criminal Background Check required for all Head Start staff at the agency's expense.
  • Fingerprinting required for all Head Start staff at the employee's expense.
  • Initial and annual TB screening are required for all Head Start staff at the agency's expense.

Nice-to-haves

  • 6 months experience in Child Development or Early Childhood Education setting.
  • Ability to communicate in both Spanish and English.
