About the position

As a Program Management Leader 5 at United Launch Alliance (ULA), you will play a pivotal role in directing and leading the daily production operations at the Decatur facility. This position requires continuous strategic and tactical coordination across various operations and functional support organizations to achieve both short-term and long-term operational and business objectives. You will focus on aligning team members towards a common goal to ensure that program and project performance meets the desired outcomes. Your responsibilities will include formulating strategies, prioritizing, and coordinating production workflows and capabilities to ensure that the production plan is executed effectively, meeting and exceeding objectives related to Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost. You will be tasked with translating high-level strategies into actionable objectives and business plans, driving operational efficiencies, and implementing improvement activities that add value to the manufacturing value stream. This includes utilizing and developing manufacturing tools and processes such as Six Sigma, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping, and Lean Manufacturing. In this leadership role, you will ensure that company-wide programs, policies, procedures, and contractual requirements are effectively implemented and optimized within operations. You will leverage the ULA enterprise to achieve program goals and develop collaborative relationships necessary for executing programs and projects. Additionally, you will lead and develop your team, providing mentorship and coaching to build a capable workforce of high-performing work teams, all while exemplifying ULA's Core Values and commitment to success.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and lead daily production operations in the Decatur facility.
  • Coordinate across operations and functional support organizations to achieve operational and business objectives.
  • Focus team members towards common goals for program/project performance.
  • Formulate strategies and prioritize production workflows to meet Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost objectives.
  • Translate strategies into actionable objectives and business plans.
  • Drive operational efficiencies and improvement activities in the manufacturing value stream.
  • Implement and optimize company-wide programs, policies, and procedures within operations.
  • Leverage ULA enterprise resources to achieve program goals and develop collaborative relationships.
  • Lead and develop teams, providing mentorship and coaching to build high-performing work teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of 8 years of applicable experience in aerospace, automotive, or large vehicle assembly/integration.
  • At least 2 years of combined experience in managing people, project management, or as a team leader.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate strategies into operational processes and outcomes.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills for effective team leadership and development.

Nice-to-haves

  • Background and/or leadership in engineering.
  • Experience in Lean manufacturing.
  • Green or Black Belt certification.
  • Experience with Cost and Scheduling management.
  • Experience working with a represented workforce.
  • Experience in negotiations, Bargaining Agreements, and Training.
  • Experience in leading a multiple discipline organization.
