About the position

The Program Manager for Academic Affairs at the Earth Institute plays a crucial role in supporting the Office of Academic Affairs, focusing on the educational mission related to the Columbia Climate School's degree programs, particularly the new MS in Climate Finance. This position involves managing admissions and recruitment activities, coordinating curricular and co-curricular programming, and ensuring effective communication and logistical support for students and alumni.

Responsibilities

  • Support the admissions pre-screening evaluation process for the MS in Climate Finance program.
  • Develop admissions recruitment and yield events and communications plans for admitted students.
  • Assist with general inquiries about the MS in Climate Finance program.
  • Participate in off-campus and on-campus recruitment for the MS in Climate Finance program.
  • Coordinate course planning and scheduling with the Columbia Business School.
  • Plan and execute co-curricular, professional development, and alumni events.
  • Oversee satisfactory academic progress for the MS in Climate Finance in Stellic.
  • Provide detailed logistical support for various administrative processes and projects.
  • Analyze data, produce reports, and engage in correspondence with students, alumni, and faculty.
  • Work with the assistant dean to develop synergies across all programs at the Climate School.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and/or its equivalent required.
  • 2 - 4 years related experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently after establishing goals and procedures.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, especially Word and Excel.
  • Strong customer-service orientation with tact, discretion, and diplomacy.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Commitment to sustainability and addressing climate change.
  • Familiarity/experience in higher education.
  • Interest in environmental, climate, and/or sustainability issues.
  • Experience with social media campaigns/outreach.

Benefits

  • Salary range of $75,000 - $80,000 based on qualifications and experience.
  • Regular full-time position with a 35-hour work week.
