About the position

The Program Manager for ARISE Creations & GEMS is a full-time role focused on empowering youth through entrepreneurship and mentorship. This position involves facilitating programming and selling events for youth in grades 7-12, ensuring effective daily logistics, and mentoring a caseload of up to five youths. The role requires flexibility in scheduling, including some weekends and local travel, and is primarily based at the Little Village and Humboldt Park locations.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate entrepreneurship programming and selling events for youth.
  • Ensure youth and staff participation in information sessions to explain expectations and responsibilities.
  • Plan and implement outreach and recruitment of youth to the program.
  • Achieve enrollment goals through creative and relevant programming.
  • Conduct youth interviews and assist with the interview process.
  • Assist with the youth stipend process as needed.
  • Coordinate logistics for selling events, including product and youth attendance.
  • Maintain accurate inventory and purchase supplies as necessary.
  • Assist with social media to keep it engaging and active.
  • Support the creative process of merchandise and product creation and connect to events.
  • Serve as a liaison and advocate for youth with families and agencies.
  • Produce documents and correspondence for program evaluation and reporting.
  • Ensure lessons provided are relevant and appropriate.
  • Supervise through on-site visits and regular check-ins.
  • Document all participant contacts and services provided.
  • Maintain accuracy of budget and spending plan if applicable.
  • Participate in required evaluations and audits.
  • Demonstrate New Life Centers' values and attend required meetings and trainings.

Requirements

  • Must become a Certified Mandated Reporter (training provided).
  • Must pass a background check and have no pending cases.
  • Must pass a Child Abuse and Neglect Tracking System background check.
  • Must pass a National Sex Offender Registry background check.
  • One year of experience working in the human services field with at-risk youth.
  • Cross-cultural competency and effective communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Willingness to be trained and proficiently utilize relevant databases and tracking systems.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of participant information.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Valid Illinois driver's license, insurance, good driving record, and access to a vehicle.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred but not required.
  • General knowledge of sports.
