About the position

The Program Manager for Business Continuity at Mayo Clinic is responsible for developing, coordinating, and managing comprehensive strategies to maintain critical functions during extended network downtimes. This role serves as the main contact for program-related inquiries, assists in risk assessment and mitigation, and collaborates with various departments to ensure compliance with regulatory standards. The position requires strong communication skills and the ability to lead problem-solving activities, ensuring that the organization is prepared for potential disruptions.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Practice leadership to develop and manage extended network downtime response strategies.
  • Serve as the main contact for questions related to the program.
  • Assist in the development of negotiation strategies and identify areas of risk.
  • Develop policies, procedures, and processes to support critical functions.
  • Lead problem-solving and decision-making activities within the program scope.
  • Translate complex specifications into actionable business requirements.
  • Interface with the Business Resilience Program to inform the development of plans and tools.
  • Communicate regularly with internal personnel and lead various meetings.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements.
  • Identify critical systems/workflows for prioritized protection and planning.
  • Safeguard patient records and ensure minimal disruption in patient care.
  • Collaborate with IT to include medical devices in ransomware response plans.
  • Design and implement ransomware awareness and response training programs.
  • Organize ransomware simulations and tabletop exercises to test response procedures.
  • Implement a maintenance plan for extended network downtime response plans.
  • Monitor ransomware trends and update plans proactively.
  • Provide regular status updates to leadership and document gaps or concerns.
  • Facilitate after-action reviews and incident debriefs to refine preparedness plans.
  • Track preparedness levels, training completion rates, and compliance with maintenance schedules.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in business or a healthcare-related field.
  • Minimum of five years relevant experience in healthcare.
  • Exceptional customer service and negotiation skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidential information.
  • Experience managing multiple priorities and projects.
  • Experience working with contracts and regulatory requirements (preferred).

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in healthcare administration or management.
  • Familiarity with emergency management and business continuity planning.
