About the position

The Program Manager for the Cannabis Public Health Branch at the Maryland Department of Health (MDH) will lead initiatives focused on cannabis use prevention and treatment, particularly among youth. This senior management role involves strategic direction setting, program implementation, and partnership management to address cannabis use and its associated health impacts. The position requires collaboration with various stakeholders, including the Maryland Cannabis Administration, and oversight of data collection and treatment options for cannabis use disorder.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage the Cannabis Public Health Branch.
  • Set strategic direction for programmatic, policy, environment, and systems addressing youth cannabis use prevention.
  • Supervise staff to assist with program implementation.
  • Review and respond to requests during Legislative Session as necessary.
  • Provide technical assistance to the Governor-Appointed Cannabis Public Health Advisory Council.
  • Ensure project design, implementation, and evaluation of evidence-based programming activities are completed efficiently.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Health Sciences, Health Care Administration, Public Health, Public Policy, or a closely related field.
  • 6 years of professional public health experience, including 3 years in evaluating, analyzing, researching, and developing health care services, policies, and programs.
  • At least 2 years of supervisory or managerial experience.
