About the position

The Program Manager for the Cannabis Public Health Branch at the Maryland Department of Health is a senior management role responsible for leading public health initiatives related to cannabis use prevention and treatment. This position will oversee the establishment of the new branch, focusing on youth cannabis use prevention and education, data collection, and treatment options for cannabis use disorder. The Program Manager will collaborate with various stakeholders, manage staff, and ensure the effective implementation and evaluation of evidence-based programming to achieve the department's goals.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage the Cannabis Public Health Branch.
• Set strategic direction for programmatic, policy, environment, and systems addressing youth cannabis use prevention and treatment.
• Supervise staff to assist with program implementation.
• Review and respond to requests during Legislative Session as necessary.
• Provide technical assistance to the Governor-Appointed Cannabis Public Health Advisory Council.
• Ensure project design, implementation, and evaluation of evidence-based programming activities are completed efficiently.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Health Sciences, Health Care Administration, Public Health, Public Policy, or a closely related field.
• 6 years of professional public health experience, including 3 years in evaluating, analyzing, researching, and developing health care services, policies, and programs.
• At least 2 years of supervisory or managerial experience.
