About the position

The Program Manager for Community Engagement at the University of Arizona's Center for Toxicology will support the director in developing, implementing, and managing projects and programs within the Community Engagement Core (CEC). This role focuses on enhancing productivity among staff and student interns, ensuring compliance with regulations, and fostering relationships with community partners, particularly in environmental health initiatives. The Program Manager will also assist in grant writing and community outreach efforts, aiming to meet the objectives of various funding sources and community needs.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain relationships with community partners through meetings and email.
  • Develop activities for research dissemination by understanding the research of the Center.
  • Develop evaluation and assessment tools and report findings.
  • Assist Director with developing and delivering trainings to students and staff on community engagement principles.
  • Organize events, programs, and projects as requested by community partners.
  • Collaborate with staff in the development, implementation, and evaluation of environmental health programs.
  • Partner with researchers to develop educational materials about their research.
  • Organize science cafe events and community teach-ins.
  • Promote environmental health research through social media and publications.
  • Oversee Arizona outreach for the WEST Environmental Justice Center.
  • Lead development and execution of Community Champion cohorts and student internship programs.
  • Coordinate and support staff in the development of summer programs.
  • Assist Director in writing grants and preparing submissions.
  • Manage and oversee operational support staff to complete projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Two years of experience managing community-based programs (preferred).
  • Two years of experience in a supervisory role (preferred).
  • Master's Degree in Environmental Health or related field (preferred).
  • Experience working with and developing programs for youth (preferred).
  • Experience working with tribal communities (preferred).
  • Understanding of and experience with environmental health and justice (preferred).
  • Fluency in Spanish speaking and writing (preferred).

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in Supervising experience
  • Knowledge of environmental health concerns in tribal communities
  • Ability to apply UA policies on protection of minors
