About the position

The Program Manager, Cost Savings/VAVE at Newell Brands is responsible for achieving financial targets related to Value Analysis Value Engineering (VAVE) for the Outdoor and Recreation segment. This role involves leading cross-functional teams to identify and execute projects that meet cost savings, quality, and performance goals. The Program Manager will also analyze project portfolio financial savings and report on progress to segment leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Achieve savings targets set by O&R segment leadership, tracked in Corporate Productivity Tracker.
  • Use financial information and analysis to support fact-based business decisions.
  • Lead quarterly ideation sessions to maintain a full funnel of value as set by Newell Brands Leadership.
  • Develop and submit new VAVE projects for review and approval through the NPD process.
  • Lead Network Planning Sessions to collaboratively develop project timelines.
  • Develop requirements and project plans with date-driven deliverables and hold team accountable to meet these plans.
  • Review and provide feedback on engineering design with Engineers at suppliers or plants.
  • Lead cross-functional teams at factories and segment offices to drive alignment and successful project outcomes.
  • Establish recurring team meetings and communication that drive project execution.
  • Collaborate with global team members on development and execution of VAVE projects.
  • Manage project scope alignment, adherence, and changes to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Motivate and monitor project team members and contractors, influencing them to take positive action.
  • Identify and resolve issues within the project team and escalate as needed.
  • Build, develop, and grow business relationships vital to project success.
  • Develop self as a role model for professionalism and leadership.
  • Recognize, celebrate, and reward successes of individuals and teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience in project management.
  • Previous experience in plastics molding, metal forming, or product assembly is required.
  • Familiarity with basic manufacturing processes and production planning.
  • Experience leading complex projects and high levels of capital spend.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with structured project management methodologies.
  • Experience in developing and deploying project best practices, policies, procedures, and processes.
  • Logical and creative problem-solving and analytical skills required.
  • Proficient in tools such as Microsoft Project, Project Online, and SharePoint.
  • Strong influencing skills and ability to articulate business cases clearly.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and presentation skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • PMP Certification is preferred.
  • Consumer products industry experience is preferred.
