About the position

The Program Manager for the Emergency Medical Services Program at UW Health is responsible for overseeing the curriculum development and management of the Paramedic and EMS education program. This role ensures compliance with state regulations and accrediting standards while evaluating the effectiveness of teaching methods and student performance. The Program Manager will also supervise student selection, provide academic advisement, and monitor clinical training effectiveness.

Responsibilities

  • Provide curriculum development and oversight for the Paramedic and EMS education program.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of teaching through various methods, including graduate performance on national certification examinations and student surveys.
  • Supervise student selection and provide academic advisement and tutoring.
  • Initiate disciplinary action when necessary and counsel students on unsatisfactory performance.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of clinical training and faculty instruction.
  • Conduct formal lectures, simulations, and examinations.
  • Work with allied health staff to improve teaching methods and instructional technology.

Requirements

  • Completion of a state-approved Paramedic education program (Minimum).
  • Four (4) years of experience in delivery of emergency care or critical care, including instructional experience in the classroom or clinical setting (Minimum).
  • Wisconsin state licensure as an EMT-Paramedic (Minimum).
  • Nationally Registered Paramedic (Minimum).
  • WI EMS Instructor II certification or must obtain within six months from date of hire (Minimum).

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Healthcare or Education related field (Preferred).
  • Two (2) years of experience in teaching through experiential modalities such as procedural or immersive simulation (Preferred).
  • Simulation Certification from the Society for Simulation in Healthcare (CHSOS, CHSE) (Preferred).
