About the position

The Director of Film and Video Production (FVP) at Hocking College is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing the Film and Video Production program. This position entails a variety of responsibilities including hiring and supervising instructors, serving as the lead instructor for core classes, and developing new curriculum that aligns with the latest trends in the film and video production industry. The Director will also conduct an annual curriculum review to ensure the program meets assessment and accreditation standards. In addition to administrative duties, the Director will engage with businesses and industry partners to create apprenticeship and employment opportunities for students. Advising students is a key component of this role, which includes building and maintaining relationships through orientation, intrusive advising, coaching, and mentorship. The Director will monitor program outcomes such as attendance, grades, retention, classroom observations, and instructor evaluations to ensure the program's success. The position also requires the Director to instruct courses and lead the FVP certificate and degree programs, providing actionable insights to the Dean of Workforce Development. Furthermore, the Director will be responsible for forming and maintaining an FVP Advisory Board composed of industry experts and employers to guide the program's direction and curriculum development.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise instructors including hiring and training.

  • Monitor program outcomes including attendance, grades, retention, classroom observations, and instructor evaluations.
  • Instruct courses and serve as the lead instructor of the FVP certificate and degree programs.
  • Provide actionable information to the Dean of Workforce Development.
  • Conduct annual curriculum review and maintain an FVP Advisory Board of industry experts and employers.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Film / Video or Instructional Technology preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree holders in these disciplines may be considered with significant professional experience and associated portfolio.
  • Expert knowledge of video editing software.
  • Extensive experience in industry-standard production including cinema cameras, lighting, and rigging.
  • Hold certifications such as Adobe Certified Expert (ACE), Apple Certified Pro, AVID Certified User or Professional, Certified Broadcast Technologist, or DaVinci Resolve Certification.
  • Teaching experience in a post-secondary environment is preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail and flexibility in dealing with others.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and program management.
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize work.
