About the position

The Program Manager for Transportation Data at AASHTO is responsible for developing and managing long-term data and information programs related to transportation. This role involves coordinating activities with governmental agencies and stakeholders, overseeing the AASHTO Census Transportation Solutions program, and providing technical and policy support on data management and analytics. The position requires strong project management skills and the ability to engage with various stakeholders to address complex transportation challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage long-term data and information programs related to transportation.
  • Coordinate activities and projects with governmental agencies, trade associations, and public interest groups.
  • Oversee the AASHTO Census Transportation Solutions program and serve as the staff liaison for the Committee on Data Management and Analytics.
  • Manage the production and delivery of technical trainings for AASHTO members.
  • Engage with stakeholders through meetings, webinars, and workshops to discuss data and information issues.
  • Monitor federal and state legislative and regulatory activities impacting transportation data programs.
  • Prepare and present materials for briefings and discussions at AASHTO meetings and conferences.
  • Provide professional and logistical support to the Committee on Data Management and Analytics.
  • Negotiate and administer contracts related to programs and committees.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in the transportation sector with a focus on data management and analytics.
  • At least 2 years of experience at the federal, state, or local level.
  • Bachelor's degree required; higher degree of professional development is desirable.
  • Excellent organizational, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Broad understanding of federal and state transportation planning and data policies.
  • Strong project planning, budgeting, and management skills.
  • Familiarity with contract administration and financial reporting.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
