About the position

The Program Manager for the Head Start Program is responsible for ensuring compliance with program mandates and standards for excellence. This role involves overseeing the development and implementation of programs for children aged 0-5, managing fiscal and legal aspects, and fostering partnerships to enhance service delivery. The position requires strong leadership and supervisory skills to guide staff and ensure program objectives are met within regulatory guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development, implementation, and coordination of the Head Start 0-5 program.
  • Monitor and assure that program objectives and contract procedures are met within Federal, State, and local guidelines.
  • Create partnerships and collaborative relationships with organizations and businesses to advance program development.
  • Develop and implement procedures to promote effective communication within the organization.
  • Monitor compliance with State of Michigan licensing regulations.
  • Oversee requirements for the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP).
  • Review overall program operations and convey information to the Division Director and Advisory Board.
  • Oversee the professional development of all staff and advisory board members.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with public schools and community agencies.
  • Collect and analyze relevant information to further program development.
  • Prepare and monitor monthly reports for documentation and guideline enforcement.
  • Create onboarding plans for new staff.
  • Supervise the work activities of assigned program staff.
  • Lead the coordination and completion of annual Self-Assessment.
  • Assist in the development of grant applications and Requests for Proposals.
  • Monitor program budgets to ensure compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Public Administration, Psychology, Social Work, Human Services, or a related field.
  • Five years of supervisory experience in human services, community service, or early childhood education.
  • Possession of a valid Michigan driver's license.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree in a related field.
  • Grant administration experience.
