About the position

The Program Manager at Hope Cooperative is responsible for overseeing a multi-disciplinary team that provides case management services to adults diagnosed with psychiatric illnesses, who may also be experiencing homelessness and substance abuse issues. This role involves ensuring the delivery of psychiatric rehabilitative services, coordinating client care, and supporting staff in their professional development. The Program Manager plays a crucial role in fostering a supportive environment that promotes recovery and community integration for clients.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise assigned staff and ensure effective team oversight.
  • Provide case management to adults with psychiatric illnesses and substance abuse issues.
  • Coordinate client treatment and care with psychiatrists and other treatment team members.
  • Support individuals through active listening and empathy, promoting recovery.
  • Implement best practices of mental health recovery.
  • Assess, train, and support direct reports, including interns and volunteers.
  • Ensure timely completion of data collection, reports, and client charts.
  • Assist with organizational development activities and grant writing.
  • Provide after-hours service and crisis intervention as needed.

Requirements

  • A minimum of four years of full-time equivalent direct care experience in the mental health field.
  • Two years of direct care experience in a mental health-related field and two years of education in a relevant subject.
  • Ability to supervise, delegate, and provide leadership to staff.
  • Knowledge of community organizations and resources.
  • Experience in mental health crisis intervention is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of Medi-Cal billing is highly desirable.

Nice-to-haves

  • Mental Health Rehabilitation Specialist certification (preferred).
  • Experience with individuals who have substance abuse problems, preferably dually diagnosed.
  • Knowledge of 12-Step Programs or personal experience with substance abuse recovery.
  • Lived experience as a mental health consumer or family member of a mental health consumer.
