About the position

The Program Manager I - Regional Director for the Pee Dee region is responsible for managing the South Carolina Guardian ad Litem program within a designated area. This role involves overseeing the recruitment, training, and supervision of volunteers, ensuring alignment with statewide program goals. The position requires strategic planning, policy development, and the ability to evaluate and recommend corrective actions. The manager will also serve as a liaison with various agencies and organizations, providing technical assistance to county office staff while maintaining confidentiality and exercising sound judgment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a regional area of the statewide South Carolina Guardian ad Litem program.
  • Ensure county offices are recruiting, training, and supervising volunteers in line with statewide program goals.
  • Interpret regional information for strategic planning and policy development.
  • Evaluate situations, develop corrective actions, and present recommendations.
  • Serve as a liaison for the Program Director with agencies and organizations.
  • Provide technical assistance to county office staff.
  • Supervise staff, including performance planning and evaluation.
  • Coach, counsel, and train employees while establishing work processes.
  • Participate in program policy development and strategic planning.
  • Facilitate quality assurance measures for statewide implementation of the GAL program.
  • Monitor court processes, office procedures, and county office performance.
  • Analyze GAL division data to identify trends and make recommendations.
  • Oversee continuing education for staff and volunteers to meet standards.
  • Establish partnerships with DSS, Family Court, Children's Law Center, stakeholders, and volunteers.

Requirements

  • A master's degree and three (3) years of administrative, management, or professional experience; or a bachelor's degree and four (4) years of administrative, management, or professional experience.
  • Familiarity with the regulating legislation for the SC Guardian ad Litem Program and child welfare legislation.
  • Experience with advocacy, mediation, conflict resolution, and Family Court.
  • Ability to interview and hire staff successfully.
  • Ability to monitor employee performance and manage diverse staff.
  • Ability to interpret and implement program policy in the assigned region.
  • Ability to mediate for case resolution.
  • Superior training skills.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and participate in statewide program decision making.

  • Experience in child welfare issues.
  • Knowledge of strategic planning and policy development.
