About the position

As a Program Manager for the Inflight Purser Program at American Airlines, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Purser Program, which is integral to the Flight Service organization. This role requires you to ensure that the 3,000 Pursers are equipped with the necessary training, resources, and engagement to provide exceptional onboard leadership to flight attendants and outstanding service to customers. You will be part of the Purser Team within the Flight Service group, where your contributions will directly impact the quality of service provided to passengers. Your responsibilities will include managing the curriculum and coordination of all Initial Purser Training, organizing Purser Leadership Conferences, and facilitating Purser Business Meetings. You will also coordinate and facilitate the Purser Advisory Council (PAC) and engage Pursers through various development and collaboration opportunities. Additionally, you will administer the Assessment program for new Pursers and document, process, and maintain paperwork for Purser candidates. Collaboration is key in this role, as you will work with Labor, Legal, People Business Partners, and Flight Service Representatives on contractual issues related to Pursers. Furthermore, you will promote and participate in UNICEF Champions for Children events, field visits, monthly conference calls, and in-person meetings. This position may require some travel and the ability to work on weekends and extended hours, reflecting the dynamic nature of the airline industry and the need for flexibility in managing the Purser Program effectively.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience/training
  • 3+ years of Flight Service experience or relevant experience
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including written and spoken presentation
  • Effective organizational, project planning, and management skills
  • Exceptional leadership and decision-making skills
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team with sound judgment
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments, complete projects on time and perform under pressure and respond to changing priorities
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
