About the position

The Program Manager for the Institute Community Development Initiative (ICDI) at the National Institute of Minority Economic Development plays a vital role in advancing community economic development across North Carolina. This position is responsible for delivering exceptional customer service and programmatic support, assisting in the development and management of partnerships, and overseeing events that promote ICDI's initiatives. The Program Manager will also manage social media content and communications to enhance ICDI's online presence and engage diverse audiences, ensuring alignment with the mission of promoting housing equity and community development.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the successful execution and preparation of workshops, seminars, and training, both onsite and virtually.
  • Manage logistics including venue setup, participant materials, and attendance at sessions, including evenings and weekends.
  • Participate in RFP processes and assist with contract details, providing input on venue selection, spatial requirements, and agenda timing.
  • Deliver professional customer service to all visitors, partners, clients, and customers, ensuring a welcoming and supportive environment.
  • Collaborate with the Vice President, Director of Housing Equity Initiatives, and Marketing team to update social media accounts and develop marketing materials such as brochures, flyers, and presentations.
  • Facilitate and attend ICDI staff meetings, Institute all-staff meetings, and additional meetings as requested to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Work closely with leadership to prepare comprehensive reports for partners, community stakeholders, and funders, highlighting program impacts and outcomes.
  • Collaborate with the NIMED team on the preparation, implementation, and execution of annual events, conferences, and workshops.
  • Provide general administrative support to the Vice President and Director of Housing Equity Initiatives as needed, assisting with scheduling and communications.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned to support the overall mission and objectives of ICDI.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required in Business Administration, Sociology, Planning, History, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Master's Degree plus commensurate experience preferred.
  • A minimum of five years of experience related to the specified duties and responsibilities.
  • Experience employing strategies and approaches to ensure and improve inclusion, diversity, and equity-based outcomes.
  • A demonstrated track record of successful project coordination and management, with accountability for managing projects as defined by funders and other key partners.
  • Experience in reviewing, analyzing, and recommending program changes based on participant, vendor, and speaker feedback, developing, implementing, and evaluating strategies to improve events.
  • Proven success in delivering high-quality work products consistently and reliably.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a proven ability to work collaboratively with diverse communities, leaders, and staff.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with a solid understanding of organizational behavior, culture, and design, as well as knowledge of curriculum development.
  • Proficient in advanced Microsoft Suite applications, including Excel Pivot Tables, Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems, Learning Management Systems (LMS), Project Management tools, and all social media platforms.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel, including some overnight trips.
