About the position

The Deputy Director of the Office of Strategic Initiatives (OSI) within the Division of Workforce Development and Adult Learning is responsible for leading and managing high-priority programs that significantly impact the State's economy. This role involves overseeing a portfolio of over $100 million in investments aimed at workforce development, ensuring alignment with strategic goals, and fostering collaboration among various state agencies. The Deputy Director will work closely with the Director to implement innovative programming and respond to the evolving needs of job seekers and industries.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, directs, and oversees all aspects of mission-critical, high priority, high visibility programs for the Department.
  • Oversees and manages the personnel and financial resources of the program(s) within the Office, representing roughly $100M million in resources.
  • Develops, implements and manages short and long-range plans for program operations and resources, ensuring alignment with strategic plan of the Division.
  • Establishes overall program goals, standards and controls to meet program objectives and oversees their achievement.
  • Acts as Secretary and Assistant Secretary's representative for key stakeholder engagements involving business leaders and other agencies.
  • Establishes overall policies and procedures for the programs within the Office of Strategic Initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Five (5) years of experience in workforce development.
  • Five (5) years of experience managing or directing grant programs.

Nice-to-haves

  • At least three (3) years of experience implementing or supporting sector-based programming through workforce development.
