About the position

The Program Manager for Medicaid Directed Payments plays a crucial role in managing Washington State's Medicaid Directed Payment Program, which provides essential funding for hospitals serving Medicaid patients. This position requires strong finance and analytical skills to contribute significantly to the health of communities by overseeing SNAP operations, preparing financial reports, and ensuring effective communication with participating hospitals.

Responsibilities

  • Lead SNAP operations, including development of member-specific reports and analysis.
  • Prepare and send quarterly payment/net benefit summaries to participating organizations.
  • Assist in calculating each member's estimated net benefit for the current year.
  • Maintain a database of financial models for PPS/CAH and Designated PHD programs.
  • Draft and send quarterly SNAP update newsletters to participating members.
  • Provide education to member personnel on SNAP operations annually.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with state Health Care Authority technical staff.
  • Assist with financial analysis of proposed legislation and budgets during the state legislative session.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
  • Minimum of three years' recent experience in hospital/health care accounting and finance.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to model financial projections.
  • Excellent customer/member relations skills and communication skills.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and database management.

Nice-to-haves

  • Doctoral degree (PhD) in a relevant field.
  • Experience with Medicaid programs and quality improvement metrics.
