About the position

The Program Manager will lead a significant government contract focused on strategic event planning and program management, primarily working from the Pentagon. This role requires extensive travel for on-site coordination of major events, ensuring that all project objectives align with client expectations and quality standards. The ideal candidate will possess military experience, particularly with the Marine Corps, and demonstrate exceptional leadership and logistical skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the planning and coordination of 11 large-scale events each year, including pre-travel for on-site logistical preparations.
• Develop a comprehensive project management plan addressing all aspects of event logistics and contract requirements.
• Create and enforce a Quality Control Plan (QCP) that aligns with the contract's performance requirements.
• Conduct compliance assessments to verify adherence to processes and identify areas for improvement.
• Lead a cohesive team by setting clear expectations and ensuring each team member understands their responsibilities.
• Track and manage action items arising from project and event reviews, ensuring timely resolution and reporting.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
• 8 to 10 years of program management experience with expertise in event planning and execution.
• Military service, preferably in the Marine Corps, with a solid understanding of military culture and communication.
• Proven experience managing large-scale government projects, particularly for defense and civilian agencies.

Nice-to-haves

• PMP (Project Management Professional) certification preferred but not required.
