About the position

The Program Manager for Next Step in Geauga County is responsible for overseeing the operations of a shelter that provides housing assistance, crisis intervention, and case management support to young adults aged 18-24 who are experiencing homelessness or aging out of foster care. This full-time position involves collaboration with various social service agencies, managing staff, and ensuring the quality and effectiveness of program services.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees planning, case reviews, and program goal achievement.
  • Collaborates with Courts, Law Enforcement, Prosecutors, Legal Services, Hospitals, WomenSafe, and other Social Service Agencies to minimize victimization.
  • Works with Jobs and Family Services, Metropolitan Housing Authorities, and other agencies to address homelessness issues.
  • Maintains a positive program image in the community.
  • Evaluates and improves program services and activities continuously.
  • Conducts professional and confidential intakes and assessments for victims of violent crime.
  • Provides case management and follow-up with clients and service providers.
  • Attends court hearings with legal advocacy clients to explain procedures and support decisions.
  • Maintains client files and records confidentially and reports statistics as required.
  • Oversees the solicitation and acceptance of donated goods and services.
  • Models behavior needed for growth and development.
  • Recruits, hires, trains, supervises, and evaluates shelter specialist staff.
  • Identifies funding sources to meet programmatic needs.
  • Supervises the Case Manager and provides feedback on case management.
  • Communicates maintenance needs and submits work order requests.
  • Facilitates shelter staff meetings and attends agency in-services.

Requirements

  • Management experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of client-centered crisis intervention skills.
  • Ability to model open communication and work in a team environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in social services or related fields.
  • Familiarity with legal advocacy and court procedures.
