About the position

The Senior Manager position within the Taxpayer Services Division at the IRS involves overseeing the planning, directing, and execution of various programs and organizational units. This role requires strong managerial skills to develop and implement policies, manage budgets, and ensure the achievement of program objectives. The position is permanent and full-time, with occasional travel requirements and eligibility for telework as determined by agency policy.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the overall planning, directing, and execution of programs and organizational units.
• Approve multi-year work plans developed by subordinate managers and oversee their implementation.
• Manage the development of policy changes in response to appropriations or legislative changes.
• Exercise authority to approve budget allocations and fund distributions.
• Revise long-range plans, goals, and objectives for the directed work.

Requirements

• One year of specialized experience at a level equivalent to the next lower level in the Federal service, demonstrating managerial skills and technical competence.
• Experience in applying management techniques and principles for program objectives.
• Demonstrated management/leadership experience in a project/program management role.
• Experience in applying regulations and official guidance relevant to program planning and implementation.
• Strong communication skills to interact effectively with internal and external customers.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in a supervisory role within a government agency or similar organization.
• Familiarity with IRS policies and procedures.
