About the position

The Program Manager, Peer Support position at the Metropolitan Council is responsible for developing, implementing, and leading the Peer Support Program. This role focuses on crisis management, relationship coordination, and communication planning to ensure a resilient workforce. The Program Manager will oversee program goals, manage resources, and provide confidential peer counseling to employees, contributing to a supportive environment for front-line workers.

Responsibilities

  • Establish program goals, performance criteria, and key performance indicators, and track program outcomes.
  • Identify program resources and related expenditures to inform budget and track expenditures.
  • Strategically manage caseloads and plan program resources to ensure optimal program outcomes.
  • Coordinate care with the recipients Critical Incident Responder and the agency's authorized critical support vendor.
  • Allocate resources and oversee crisis intervention and response plans for employees affected by crisis in the workplace.
  • Actively listen and provide confidential peer counseling as needed for affected employees.
  • Collaborate with Metropolitan Council's EAP and internal support departments on program involvements to ensure employee needs are met.
  • Communicate directly with various departments on details of incidents, crisis conditions, and operational logistics for CIRT response.
  • Develop and maintain business processes and tracking systems to manage requests for service, schedule resources, and workloads.
  • Develop a data source and work in coordination with business units to identify trends and direct resources and program content according to need.
  • Hire, train, and directly supervise the Program Coordinator position.
  • Conduct routine performance evaluations of direct reports and provide feedback.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED and eight (8) years of experience in transit, transportation, public safety, or a related environment.
  • Associate degree AND six (6) years of experience in a related field.
  • Bachelor's degree AND four (4) years of experience in a related field.
  • At least one (1) year of supervisory, lead worker, or project management experience.

  • Experience providing emotional or crisis management support to individuals.
  • Experience in setting and monitoring department level procedures and performance goals.
  • Experience in leading a large program or initiative.
  • Ability to collaborate with stakeholders from other disciplines or departments.
  • Experience advocating for a client, employee, or customer's rights or needs.
