About the position

The Program Manager, Regional Youth Educator at South Dakota State University (SDSU) Extension is responsible for empowering youth and fostering community growth through the 4-H program. This role involves supporting county operations in the central region of South Dakota and leading state-level programs aimed at meeting the needs of young people. The position is full-time, benefits-eligible, and can be based at various SDSU Extension Regional sites.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 4-H program and policy supervision within an assigned region of counties.
  • Direct education in support of outreach and older youth retention initiatives.
  • Develop and support state-wide 4-H programs.
  • Serve as a general team member of the South Dakota 4-H program.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Child or Youth Development, Education, Sociology, Community Development, Human Development, or related fields with relevant youth development coursework or experience.
  • At least three years of volunteer or professional experience in youth development or education.
  • Effective written communication skills.
  • Effective verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A valid driver's license or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree in Child or Youth Development, Education, Sociology, Community Development, or Human Development.
  • At least one year of experience in education or government administration.
  • Experience with SDSU Extension or South Dakota government relations.
