About the position

The Program Manager (Research Assistant 3) at the University of Connecticut's Pratt & Whitney Institute for Advanced Systems Engineering (PW-IASE) is responsible for coordinating the Institute's teaching and training programs. This role involves managing the curriculum, supporting research initiatives, and engaging with industry partners to promote the Institute's offerings. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the educational programs remain competitive and relevant in the field of Cyber-Physical Systems Engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Actively advertise the PW-IASE curriculum and initiate discussions with industry for enrollment in programs.
  • Benchmark the curriculum against competing programs and propose future directions.
  • Organize, schedule, and realize PW-IASE courses, coordinating with instructors and collecting student evaluations.
  • Hold quarterly meetings with instructors to ensure continuity between courses.
  • Support proposals for academic projects from Federal Funding Agencies.
  • Coordinate Capstone Design projects and communicate with Academic and Industry Advisors.
  • Improve media and methods of online dissemination of the PW-IASE curriculum.
  • Support the development of a research program in Systems Engineering education.
  • Run campaigns to advertise the PW-IASE in the state and globally.
  • Coordinate activities of the PW-IASE Academic Industry Advisory Board.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in science, technology, or engineering.
  • 4-5 years of post-degree experience in academia, R&D, or manufacturing; OR a Master's degree with 2-4 years of experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of applicable concepts and strategies in site planning and infrastructure systems.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work individually and as part of a team.
  • Experience creating and managing budgets.
  • Highly organized with attention to detail.
  • Commitment to promoting diversity in academic and research programs.

Nice-to-haves

  • Ph.D. in Engineering, Systems Engineering, STEM, or Business/Marketing.
  • 5 years of experience negotiating partner agreements and executing research projects.
  • 7 years of experience in academia, R&D, or manufacturing.
  • Experience in external marketing efforts.
  • Experience with directed social media content creation.
  • Experience managing staff and creating a team environment.
  • Prior engagement with the International Council of Systems Engineering (INCOSE).
