About the position

The Program Manager for Robotic Surgical Technologies at Medtronic will lead cross-functional engineering teams through the Product Development Process, focusing on delivering new technologies and therapies. This role is pivotal in ensuring that program teams are efficient, effective, and well-coordinated, while adhering to schedules and managing budgets. The Program Manager will drive problem-solving sessions, anticipate risks, and cultivate a broad understanding of Medtronic's Surgical Robotics and Instrumentation to ensure project success.

Responsibilities

  • Lead cross-functional teams to evaluate, develop, and manage projects focused on adding new Instruments, Indications, and Technologies to the surgical robotics platform, HugoTM.
  • Develop and monitor schedules, plans, tasks, and priorities, ensuring a streamlined workflow.
  • Drive problem-solving sessions, maintaining a sense of urgency and holding team members accountable to commitments.
  • Anticipate and mitigate risks, balancing time, schedule, cost, and quality, while adhering to safety and regulatory standards.
  • Manage project financials, including forecasting and tracking of accruals and actuals.
  • Cultivate a broad understanding of Medtronic's Surgical Robotics and Instrumentation, leveraging this knowledge to drive project success.
  • Oversee and manage the operational aspects of ongoing projects and serve as liaison between project management and planning, project team, and line management.
  • Review status of projects and budgets; manage schedules and prepare status reports.
  • Monitor the project from initiation through delivery.
  • Assess project issues and develop resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives.
  • Develop mechanisms for monitoring project progress and for intervention and problem solving with project managers, line managers, and clients.
  • Gather requirements, work on requirements planning, requirements elicitation and requirements management to ensure they meet demands of project's key stakeholders.
  • Communicate with stakeholders, obtain stakeholder engagement to ensure the end products or processes will solve the business problems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required (Engineering, Computer Science, or related scientific discipline)
  • Minimum of 5 years of project management experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 3 years of project management experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • 10+ years of experience in Project Management or commercial new product delivery
  • MBA and PMP / CSM Certification
  • High degree of competency in Microsoft Office Suite (Project, PowerPoint, Excel, Word)
  • Proven track record of successfully managing within a matrixed organization
  • Knowledge in product development, project management, and commercialization in the medical device industry
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills; builds trusting relationships with team members and key leadership stakeholders
  • Experience with developing and/or commercializing large capital medical devices (e.g. Robotic systems, Imaging equipment, etc.)
  • Experience with advanced scheduling and resource management tools like Prochain and Resource First
  • Experience working under regulations of the FDA, notified bodies, and other regulatory agencies for successful commercial launches
  • Product launch experience working with Global teams
  • Experience with SAFe/Agile software development practices.
