About the position

As a Program Manager within our Test & Evaluation Program Team, you will be responsible for planning, integrating, and executing one or more Test & Evaluation programs/projects on the Spaceship Delta Program. Test & Evaluation programs/projects require delivery of test results for a variety of engineering disciplines; including, but not limited to structures, materials, mechanical systems, avionics, and flight controls. Your role will be pivotal in ensuring that these programs meet their technical, cost, and schedule objectives, thereby contributing to the overall success of the Spaceship Delta initiative. In this position, you will build and lead a Test & Evaluation Team tasked with delivering products that meet established technical, cost, and schedule objectives. You will have overall responsibility for developing program plans, including establishing baselines and executing within the approved baseline cost, schedule, and scope. This includes accountability for developing a cross-functional team to ensure programs are executed by the gated product life cycle and Program Management processes, guaranteeing the achievement of program and business goals. You will leverage your experience to help the Virgin Galactic team develop and deploy program processes aligned with Program Management best practices. Collaboration will be key, as you will work with various organizations across the company, including Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Business/Cost Management, and Quality, to ensure the execution of the program statement of work. Regular reporting to executive leadership, internal and external customers, and the wider organization regarding the team's performance in the areas of quality, scope, cost, and schedule will also be a critical part of your responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Build and lead a Test & Evaluation Team to deliver products that achieve technical, cost, and schedule objectives.
  • Develop program plans, including baselining, and execute within the approved baseline cost, schedule, and scope.
  • Accountability for developing a cross-functional team to ensure programs are executed by the gated product life cycle and Program Management processes.
  • Help develop and deploy program processes aligned with Program Management best practices.
  • Collaborate with other organizations across the company to ensure execution of program statement of work.
  • Regularly report to executive leadership, internal and external customers, and the wider organization on team performance.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a B.S. in Engineering or technical discipline from an accredited university.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience with the design, development, integration, and testing of aerospace systems products.
  • Demonstrated success managing aerospace projects ideally with a focus on Supplier Project Management.

Nice-to-haves

  • PMP Certification
  • Primavera (P6) Experience
  • Experience with aerospace test practices including component acceptance and qualification, structural validation, environmental testing, instrumentation, and data acquisition.
  • Hands-on experience with composite part fabrication and assembly processes.
  • Experience with aircraft systems development and/or testing per DO-254 and DO-178.
  • Familiarity with Environmental Qualification standards such as DO-160, MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461/464, MIL-STD-704.
  • Six Sigma Training and Certification.
